TALK AT AHILYA

30 Jul 09 was a milestone in my lecture cum training rndeavour. It was this day that I was giving my first paid talk. Yes I had to conduct a workshop for the staff of Ahilya Eye Hospital at Walayar on Attitude & Organisatioinal commitment. I arrived at that location from Thrissur after a 2 hour drive at 2.30 p.m. and commenced my talk in their auditoriium at 3 pm. There were about 50 to 60 people present from amongst their staff, nursing students, administrative staff etc. After an introduction by their materials manager, Mr Shiva Prasad, I commenced the programme with a numerical ice breaker. The audience were quite unresponsive and I had to goad them to interact. I am sure that they have the potintial to be moulded. I went through the first part within an haour and ten minutes after which I announced a short break. The second sessions was mainly consolidation of the main ideas. I rounded off the presentation withe Old Womans, slides and was pleasantly surprised that quite a few did manage to see the other picture! The vote of thanks proposed by thir HR Maanager Mr Avtar Krishna really floored me. Any way with Gods grace I was able to do justice to the subject. Thank you God !

BULBUL HAS HER FIRST SHOT

To day the 24th day of July 2009 a Friday was the day little Bulbul had to have her second dose of DPT and Oral Polio vaccine. Accordingly around 11 AM Vandana and I take her to West Fort hospital. Having registered her name already we wait for our turn in front of the Pediatrecian Dr Viswanath. He sees her and after thorough examination expressess satisfaction at her steady progress. Matron Ammini Amma is also there and sees to it that we are made to feel comfortable in that place. At 1150 Bulbul receives her second 'poke' when the nurse injects the Dpt combination. She howls a little but calms down soon enough. We also give her her second oral Polio vaccine and return home around 12.15. She is a brave one and does not cry much.

Bulbul A Bundle of Joy

The arrival of our grand daughter little Bulbul as I call her or Mihira for the others has cast such a strange and lovebale web around all of us so much so that we are foreever wanting to be around her watching her little baby pranks. Her ccos amd cries and ;ittle twists and turns hold us captivated and wanting more. I cant ever imagine ever having spent any time with my girls during this phase of their lives. In any case I saw my first daughter only after she was over six months and the second one after three weeks of her birth that too for a few days. However with Bulbul I have all the time to sit and stare and admire the little pranks she unleashes to have her way Earlier one was so taken in by the tight schedule of ones professiion that one hardly got time to sit aand bask in these small thrills, a sequence presently being undergone by Sameer. He has hardly spent any time with her at this stage and really does not know what he is missing. What fascinates me the most is her innocent smile and the sweet countennence. She brings sunshine when she is around and the whole household weeps when she does. Can there be any greater speel than this that one can cast at any time in ones life. God Bless Her.

New Dwelling

To day I went to see my new home being built brick by brick. I aiiach some photographs. Whenever earlier I 'd heard the phrase brick by brick I could not really imbibe the true meaning. It is as I watch this building come up that I realise the true value of that phrase. Its really fascinating the whole structure come up up brick by brick and true enough as all males I am only the initiator and noot the one who sweats it out. My new born grand daughter has opened my eyes to the fact that I did little in the matter of my childrens' development except that I planted the seed. All the subsequent tasks were my wife's chore! much like my house where all I did was lay the stone! Comparisons can be odious isnt it. It is now with the arrival of yhe liitle bulbul and my new constructiion effort that I realise how callous can we males get? Indeed a food for thought!!!!

SECOND INNINGS - A HAVEN FOR SENIORS OF THRISSUR

SECOND INNINGS or more popularly translated as RANDAMOOZHAM a facility for the seniors to interact and rekindle their otherwise routine and mundane lives offers the right ambience for those seniors who find it difficult to pass time during the day for want of company or something worthwhile to do. It is with this background that a senior retired Army Colonel and a successful entrepreneaur have joined hands to start such a facility which will provide the seniors to interact with their peers and rekindle their lives. Socially useful activities and community activities will form the basis of work ethos here. The facility will be useful specially to those children who have aged parents staying alone and want to help alleviate their lonliness without having to come down themselves.
